So my least favorite thing that sword art online has done is just used random magic to bring Kirito back to life. They explain it with “will power” but if that’s the case is there really not a SINGLE person who had the will power to survive? Up to that point we had seen that it’s impossible to come back once you die and your brain is fried instantly after you die… the only time we had heard of ressurection was the item kirito got from Nicholas the renegade. He gave it to Klein and we never heard about it again but since Asuna was able to stop her paralysis who’s to say Klein couldn’t do it too. My theory was that he was used the stone in kirito. That makes the most logical sense rather then “will power” and I feel would make the story a lot better!
The players brain isn’t fried instantly after they die, there’s a ten second delay between the avatar dying and the nerve gear killing you. that’s why the revival item works to begin with.
Red Nosed Reindeer was written after the original Aincrad story, no matter how much fans may wish it, the Revival stone didn’t exist in the narrative at all when Aincrad was cleared.
Kirito would not have survived if Kayaba Akihiko hadn’t kept him alive surpassing the system or no. No amount of willpower would stop the nervegear from from frying the brain in reality. Kirito surpassing death, Asuna reaching kirito faster than the system should allow, Asuna breaking her paralysis and Kirito unpinning himself from the floor are all early examples of the Incarnate System in action. In SAO and Accel World, the strong connections to the human brain and soul allow players to do some pretty amazing things, as we’ll see in the next arcs of the series.
