hi, i just finished watching sao ep 14 and i don't really understand why kirito didn't die? like he came back in the game after he died and then he woke up in the real world?? like shouldn't he die? because like everybody but him and asuna logged out and they appeared in the bloody sky. i do not undertand what happened

aah there are several people that can answer this way better than i can, but it actually was kayaba’s doing. correct me if im wrong on this, but i think he made it so kirito and asuna both had the chance to succeed? asuna already couldnt die bc kirito technically lost. it goes way deeper than that and im pretty rusty on the series so uuuh whoops,, the anime doesn’t really do any service explaining this at all so
