Not a confession: Do you think that the makers will learn from the past two seasons and make the third season better?

I guess it depends on what you mean; SAO’s base plot was written years before the first novel was even printed, so I don’t think current reception has that much of an impact on its main story? Plot-wise the next season should cover the Alicization arc from the novels, which (in my opinion) has certain improvements over past arcs, while some of my problems with past arcs are still there.

Adaptation-wise? I think that when not trying to set harem bait and fanservice, the anime does a solid job, and most of what is cut from the novels are either due to time constraints and/or limitations with the animation medium. I think Alicization leaves little room for the fanservice issue, but it’s still 2-3 seasons worth of plot, so who knows how well they’re handling that, and if we’re getting any cut content or pacing issues.

TL;DR: the next arc will be pretty different from the past seasons in terms of how it handles plot (a change I think most people will find a positive one) but how well they’re adapting that is a Mystery.  ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
