Sinon had found a hopeless sort of resolve, saying she didn’t want to live in fear any more, and didn’t care if she lived or died. Kirito, being Kirito, refused to let her go off and get herself killed, saying that he did care if she lived or died. which brought the conversation around to the true root of Sinon’s problem: “can you hold the hand of a murderer?”
you see, despite being a clear case of self-defense, Shino still deals with the guilt of having taken a life, the fact that everyone around her started calling her a murderer and refusing to associate with her didn’t help much either
like I said: it’s not guns she’s afraid of, it’s what they represent, and for her they represent crushing guilt and rejection
