I don’t think she suddenly stopped being a great fighter just because of her relationship with Kirito. She has a lot more concern than he did when he came to fighting, in the sense that he is more likely to dive into a battle. However she did allow her emotions to carry a lot of her battles. Also, I don’t think she was any less of a fighter, she proved herself to continue to be a great fighter during Mother’s Rosario, both in the game with physical fighting and irl with the struggles she had with her mom. Her relationship with Kirito in the first season reminded her of her humanity, and reminded her what it was they were all fighting for. She began fighting for him and their relationship, in such a way that would help make it so their relationship could continue in the real world. Up until that point, she had been fighting to fight. She also got to where she was because for the encouragement Kirito gave her in the second episode. Kirito was a large part of her becoming who she is, and he never treated her like she was anything less than him. If she hadn’t had the cooking characteristic, I don’t know if their relationship would have been able to develop the way it did, because it gave them that connection, that quality time. It also links back to their first meeting with Kirito showing her how to make food taste better with the cream on the bread. They influenced each other greatly, consciously and unconsciously, throughout the show.
