“I used to like Asuna but in truth, her character to me is the worst one I’ve seen out of anime and I’ve seen a lot. 

[She was a strong female lead who didn’t need a team and was perfectly capable of being a solo player but she became weak, which I think it’s partly Kirito’s fault as she may not have wanted to seem so strong in fear of putting him off of her. After they got married she couldn’t do anything for herself and every time she fought she relied on Kirito fully for help. Personally I don’t like either character for those reasons. Leafa, on the other hand, is a much better character. She is strong and progressed fully on her own even when Kirito wasn’t around. She was a brilliant fighter and when faced with the fact that Kirito was the person she loved out of the game and that he was looking for someone else, she never faltered and continued to fight for his sake out of pure love. The reason I don’t like Asuna is not because of shipping, because I really couldn’t care less about it in this anime. I just think it could have gone much better without the need for a teenage marriage or a swooning harem for Kirito to have at all times.]”
