Sinon is a mirror image of kirito in the phantom bullet arc. I’m not sure how you can say she has weaknesses and fears without admitting that he too has them. Despite being so strong inside the game world, the guy has several glaring personality flaws, has caused the deaths of several people due to his own hubris, and constantly believes he can do things all on his own.
It’s true that many of the SAOs side characters are not as developed as they should be, but all the main characters (kirito, asuna, suguha, sinon, eugeo, and alice) are.
