Reki Kawahara really can’t keep a story straight or rather never did the research to have it make sense to begin with and A-1 pictures has just as a bad of a reputation when it comes to the random people they hire but to some fair credit they do make SAO look visually appealing and set up waifus.
that’s right the SAO anime is not about Kawahara’s terrible story of a game that wouldn’t work or sell well to begin with or even the bland protagonist no one can relate to but is still a bit better than Boruto miraculously enough and that’s a low bar to be under or even the bland romance that doesn’t really feel real or really understands how relationships works for a series that claims to have a good romance in it. It’s all about the waifus. from Asuna to Suguha and even the supposed lesbian Yuuki.

I wonder if people realize that by ragging on the Kawahara’s game design they’re essential saying Ultima Online is a shitty game that wouldn’t sell. I mean maybe they weren’t gaming in 2001 to understand the design limitations he was working with, or the games he had to base it on, but still.
Don’t drink the Mother’s Basement kool-aid and do some research people.
