Voice Actors announced for Sword Art Online: Ordinal Scale original characters

Yuna will be voiced by Sayaka Kanda. Kanda is mainly known as a stage actress, but has also had theme song roles in the past. She notes how she is interested in the role of an idol character in the movie and how she was able to sing a variety of songs.

Eiji will be voiced by Yoshio Inoue. Inoue is a known stage, movie, and TV actor, but with little to no known credits in anime. Inoue has expressed interest in the theme of VR and AR being initially too technical for him, but gradually he warmed up to it after getting to appreciate the human emotions behind it all. He notes that Eiji is a very human character.

Professor Shigemura will be voiced by Takeshi Kaga. Kaga is a well-known host of Iron Chef and has acted in movies. He has expressed excitement at the quality of Ordinal Scale’s animation.

Interestingly enough, all of these people have scant resumes in anime, and are mainly known for other types of acting. The reason for this is supposedly that Director Itou finds recent seiyuus to sound too fake, and thus has chosen to instead hire live-action performers. Itou chose the cast of ERASED in a similar fashion.
