For all of you who didn’t know: Kirito’s fate was decided even before the battle. He was just destined to become a Beater! And look now at what has become of the scapegoat - the strongest player in the game, the one who has finally beaten it! :D
Really, this is a vital scene in the manga. Just think about it. It isn’t just a turning point in Kirito’s and the Beta-testers lifes. It is vital for understanding Diabel, the first boss fight and even Argo, the rat. It clarifies so much!
